Today i found my first 1800s coin witch was also my first Indian head cent 1881. The Indian looked really good until i soaked it in peroxide it had good detail i could read everything on the coin' Not anymore. Also found a really nice thimble. On the thimble it says "A keep sake" any ideas on the maker. Thanks for looking and any help on the id and opinions on what happend with the peroxide.

Dude you spelled which like a witch on a broom. Learn the differences. :icon_study:

Nice find. that is the reason I don't use peroxide on the coins that I find....Matt

I'm not here for spelling lessons i made a mistake. Thanks for being so friendly.

Nice finds Matt, we all learn the hard way on the cleaning of coins. I bet the next time you'll just leave it alone
and enjoy the way it looks. That's the best way to look at a IH. The soft water in your house really eats them up.
Try some Olive Oil the next time, just dab it on with a cotton swab. Don't leave it soak to long, just wipe it on and off.

Again, Nice finds!!

Hey, nice finds. Kinda hard to see with the contast on that pic.

I have a large penny collection. I learned that the best way to clean a coin is not to.

Whatever soap and water won't get off, stays.
