Got out to a new spot that looks promising. It's a huge old field surrounded by a stone wall. I didn't know we're to start but got a couple decent finds out of it. A three ring bullet, button,a toasted 1840 ns half penny and a old dime play coin. image-279445633.webp image-847354811.webp image-401931426.webp image-2590493377.webp image-1394739765.webp This is what the play money would have looked like. image-72908377.webp

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

Trying to help you date the site... your 3-groove bullet has the profile of a US .45-70 "Government Rifle" bullet, in use from 1873 to World War 0ne. Because its grooves are flat-bottomed with tiny parallel ridges in them, it dates from the later half of that time-range. (I do realize you are in Canada, but that rifle and its ammunition were sold as "Military Surplus" to civilians for "large-game" hunting all over the world.)

I noticed the little parallel grooves. Thanks for the info.

Are you detecting the stone wall too - I would ! Hidden cache's ya know!

I'm going to hit it hard. There was still snow mostly around the walls! :)
