Old Garden.. Worth The Hunt???

I've got access to about a 3 to 5 acre field a couple of miles from where I live (Shelby, AL). The field was a big garden spot and has been plowed and planted for the last 10 years that I know of. It's now just a mown lawn like area and the owner gave me permission to metal detect. Do you think it would be worth it to do a little detecting on being it used to be a garden spot but now looks like someone's large, front yard? Thanks..

heck yeah give it a shot . You can try it in a zig zag pattern for a quick look for any finds. Good luck

Check under any large trees near the area, That would be where anyone working it would take breaks.

Thanks guys, yeah, the more I think about it, the more I want to hunt it.. It's mainly flat and no trees at all except on the edges of the heavy wooded area that surrounds the field. Thanks again.

Just dig very small holes/plugs. Carry some water and and pour some in when you fill the holes.

Yeah, I'll have plenty of water as hot as it is here..lol... When I talked to the owner about detecting, he told me I could do anything I wanted but I'm gonna make sure I leave it just as I found it..

Was gonna hit it today and my car had problems. The top radiator hose inlet is plastic and it's broke and it's running hot and now I've gotta buy a whole new radiator. Well, that field will still be there for later...
