At lunch today, I ventured out into a new section of woods that I have never been on the farm I've been hunting. To my surprise I came across the remains of another old house I didn't know existed! You can see the foundation was on the brick pillars. It has a double fireplace (back to back). You can see the old wood and tin roof. I found one water pipe with faucet sticking about 3 feet off the ground. I found the fuse box, it was a 1 fuse box. I am not sure of the age? What is throwing me off is:
1) No old road to the house.
2) The basement (?) in the picture is concrete cinder blocks, but the brick pillars are NOT over the top of this. The two look to be separate.
Any ideas?
I think I have located two different outhouse locations also close to the house.

As far as finds, I only found the items pictured so far. Not much time to MD today.
Saw some other areas of the woods I had never been to also. I'll try to get more pictures next time out. I also ran across a 2nd tree stand out in the woods. I better get an orange vest. :o
No idea what the long metal piece is? It's copper and crimped the length of the piece.
Sword sheath? ;D
The green bottle is still full of some thick clear liquid. I'm trying to figure out the name on the bottom.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Thanks Joe. If that guys whiz is that thick, he had serious issues, not to mention a tiny *&%$. :o ;D
I'll see if my dog will drink some.

Cool finds. This may have been a doctors home. That metal piece that has "dex" & saline stamped on it looks to be from an old IV bottle that contained dextrose and saline solution. I also see the little clear glass vile and the bigger green bottle. I am sure more interesting items are yet to be found. Good Luck!!

Those are some GREAT pictures! I'd have had to call in "bad lunch" and stayed right there. Those are some really neat finds. I can't wait to see what else you pull out of there.

Stay out of the bottle! :D

the copper piece looks like an old section of downspout for guttering. It was used quite a bit back in the thirties and was starting to make a comeback until metal prices went through the roof. Nice bottles, sure it isn't maple syrup LOL

Thanks Sniffer.
I think it would been too small of a diameter to be downspout. It would be maybe a 2" diameter if formed into a tube.
I broke down and opened the green bottle. It was some sort of oil. Possibly Castor Oil like JoeinReno said. It has a name on the bottom, and I think a date too, but is tough to read.
Once I figure it out, I'll post the name.

Too bad about the bottle full of castor oil. Maybe next time you will find one full of booze!

Good luck!

;D Plenty of old empties out in the woods, that's for sure. ;D

i like the remains of the house and from the way it look the fireplace was built nice and strong due to it being the only thing left standing. is that one of those old glass lantern lamp bottom part. it would be funny if u walked into the woods and saw a fireplace but no remains of a house. hope u find somemore koolstuff there. (k-man)

Looks like a great place to hunt, but I would tell somebody where you are going and when you are due back. My cousin fell into a old well and was down there for like a day before someone found him. In a way, these old places, foundations, etc. are the honey traps of the MD crowd. Be safe.

Thanks Tin.
I carry my cell phone, and always let someone know where I'm at.

Nice lunch break MM! I'm sure you will be getting back there, good luck when you do. I hope you find a nice cache of coins. HH, Mike

I think what you've found is a fairly high-tone still. Kinda like the little pig whose house was made of brick. Don't drink what's in the green bottle or--like Roger Miller--you might "run ten mile".

Serious part: It must be great fun to find a site like that 'way back in there'. I'll watch for more cool finds.

Kirk's Avatar Part: Depicts an 80's detectorist, about which one might presume: 1) drives a Trans-Am with the big Bird decal on the hood; 2) has leopard-print seat covers in it; and 3) has "BOW-CHICKA-BOW-BOW" music playing on the 8-track.

Ya never know what you'll find on any one place. Up at the button site I go to, I started hunting at the main house. After getting tired of hunting there, I expanded my search. That's when I stumbled upon the CW site. So I found myself some old maps and looked at different years to compare. There ended up being at least eight different homesites on this piece of property. If you have access to maps throughout the years, that might help to locate others sites there too. Congrats on those finds!

Nana :)
