Got permission to hunt at an old house today. A lot of trash as usual. But got 2 colonial coins. The first is a massachusett cent. The date on it is 1788. That made my whole day and week. Then just a few feet over, there it was my second colonial coin. I didnt know what it was but after I got it home upon furter inspection it is a connecticut copper, And i think the date is 1786 hard to make out for sure though. I didnt do a scan of the front there isnt much there to go by. This coin has a nick on the edge of it must have been hit by somthing at some point. All in all one of my best days metal detecting. Cant wait to get back to this house hopefully I will be able to the first of the week.Thank you for looking and happy hunting.

awesome finds

Thank you guys! I dont really know why these two coins were at this house. I think the house was built in 1860. So doesnt seem to me that they would be from this house. There must have been somthing there before this house was built. Had me thinking all night. Thanks for the comment. Hope you all can get out today for a while.

Mainer,

Great coins, and sounds like a pretty amazing site. I'm from a much newer area of the country, so I don't have any experience in hunting or finding colonial coppers, but man, it seems like a couple of those just a few feet apart might mean you've stumbled onto something special. I think I'd be asking the neighbors for permission, too.

Congrats on the Mass and Conn. coppers!!!! Hit that place slow and hard and then do it again and again for different directions, and as Mountainplayer suggested, try to get permission to hunt the neighbors as well!!
