I was driving through a city north of Toronto on Friday and noticed this old farmhouse sitting empty on a major highway. It was raining out, so I asked a couple of locals "why this house had been vacant for such a long time". I was told, "the house was scheduled to be moved to make way for a housing development". I decided that it was now or never for this place, so I came back this morning. I could tell the sites
topography had likely undergone a number of changes to the over the years, but figured it was worth a shot!

My first find of interest was the large broken bronze crotal bell; this bell must've been the size of a softball! :o My next find was the pocket watch body. This was followed by the bronze circular piece with what I think is a finger ring for a mug or a candle-stand. :icon_scratch:

I've decided that I'll make this piece my next 'restoration project'. I'll grind down the broken sections and have the initial of my last name 'K' 'scripted' into the thumb plate. :laughing7: I'll post a picture of how the 'bronze ring' looks when it's finished! And yes, the Caterpillar Bulldozer is made by Lesney!

Best of luck to you all,
Dave

Good eye on the ID from the candle stick holder, I was thinking a knife rest when I first saw it.

Nice grouping of finds overall, the bell would be a sweet keeper if intact.

nice finds!!!! bound to be more!

Thanks very much for the pics Dave, I figured as much!
I also assumed the metal was bronze, but it's obviously brass! :tongue3:

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Thanks very much J.
I wish the bell had been complete also, it sure would've been nice find if it was eh!

I headed back to the Millhaven site again today.
All I found was a brass horse buckle and the back of an old pocket watch case. :dontknow:
Have you made it over there yet?
Dave

nice ring ...congrats !

Thanks Hispan!
I'll post pics of it next week when I get it back from the engravers. :icon_thumright:

Hope you and your family are all well,
Dave

Great pics of some great finds, congrats

Appreciate it Dave, ya it was pretty cool pulling that out today. The best part is I was only there for 10 minutes and the yard was god size along with having vacant lots on either side of it. So I'm hoping there's something more from that time period and maybe older

Thanks for your post nooberz!
Sometimes even the 'junk' finds can be interesting from old sites like this . . . but I'd trade it all for just one IH! :laughing7:
