Started Sunday Morning hitting a few sites before the heat started to climb. Then Decided on an old house site Circa 1870's(?) according to the owner. LOTS OF TRASH, BUT.... I was rewarded with a West Virginia State Seal staff officers Coat Button. These buttons are very rare and were issued to Militia Post Civil war. The back mark on this one is Waterbury Button Co. Im trying to date it but Im finding examples of this button with different company backmarks, one Waterbury. But I'm pleased Coz it is the first one I've ever dug!
Went back out Sunday evening to the same site and was rewarded with A Silver St. Christophers Medal, a '48 wheatie a copper/silvered match box lid and this curiosity which I think has something to do with the railroad. I'm trying to figure out what R.S.M.A. Was in 1919. The Very Tiny back mark on this item is AM.RY.S. Co NY. Which is America Railway Supply Co. They made baggage tags et al. I have it on "what is it" thread.
