I have been metal detecting my families farm for a while now. The site has had people leaving there since the 1850s (at least). Different families over the years. Here are the findings from last night.

Big old Iron. Mostly old hinges, maybe some broken plow teeth. But the claw hatchet (or axe) is neat. I’ve seen a few postings on here about these.

Looks like a couple of buttons, not flat ones but some are neat. One has writing but I can’t make it out. The ornate plate may be related to a brass pull knob found 30 or so feet away. Someone said the knob may be off of a spice chest. So this plate may be related. The cylinder item is peculiar. Not sure how old it is. Thought maybe it was a type of syringe or black powder item. Looks like may have writing on the top piece but can’t tell. The top piece threads down in and appears to be made of copper or brass.

Nice!! Congrats!!

Interesting finds

Interesting finds, congrats! :occasion14:

Nice find on the hatchet. That style of hatchet is more interesting then plain simple ones. I have only found two like that in decades of detecting.

I agree. I was shocked when I saw it because that style was new to me. I think I’ll try to do some electrolysis to get the rust off and hang it up in the mancave.
