Old Knife?

I found this item in an old town from 1852.

Looks pretty old to me and was told it could of been used by indians for slaughtering meat?

Any info is appreciated.

Not any trade knife style I am aware of... and trade knives are my "thing."

Looks like maybe a piece of hoop iron, which was used for many things by Euro- and Native people.
