I have seen these several times on different posts and even seen one in a metal detector ad recently showing civil war relics, sure this is not a civil war relic but can anyone tell me what it is or approx. age?

I'm not sure what they are called, but I call them snap pins. You put the pin through a hole in a axel, 3-point on a tractor etc... then snap the ring down so the pin won't come out. I will try to find a pic. Could be old, but I have some that look very similar that are new.

Kinda looks like this thing? It's called a lynch pin on the ace hardware website. What do ya think, pretty close?
Yours does look older though (maybe just the crud).
