Metal Detecting
Late Sunday afternoon dig.

On this rainy/drizzle of a day I headed down to a favorite park to try out some areas I've spent little time detecting.

There's definitely some potential here from what was found.

Found not one, but two Buffalo nickels: 1925 and 1936. There were 7 wheats dug, with the earliest being 1916, 1923 and 1939. Near an oak tree I got a great sounding signal and recovered a watch or clock winder. Another evidence that this part of the park has not been detected heavily is the $2.35 in clad, including 7 quarters.

So I think I'll be headed back.

Nice finds...and lots of digging there!

Nice hunt McCDig. Love it when you pull some oldies from a park. I very seldom pull any keepers from parks in a tri-county area, but when I do, I feel like I won the lottery.

Nice, the buffs have very good detail....:icon_thumleft:

Thanks Art! It was a good hunt.

Thanks pepperdawg! I was pleased with their conditions and a little surprised.

Thanks Romeo-1! Some of the holes were multiple coins. One had a buff and a wheat, another - two wheats, and there was a string of quarters, dimes and a nickel in one of the clad holes.
Still dug some trash in the form of iron, bottle caps and pulltabs.

Thanks L-D. After pulling the wheats and buffalo nickels I kept thinking "Next good signal is silver", but the silver did not present itself on that hunt. Glad for the watch winder relic!

Hey Tony, thanks! Common dates, but very happy with condition. They've got that "dirt" patina.

Very nice hunt! Looks like you found a great spot. :occasion14:

With all those wheats there's gotta be silver close. Love those buffalo's!!

Thanks Professor. I agree. In a park like this that has seen some intense detecting, perhaps this sweet spot will produce even more.

buffrevs.webpThanks deershed! Here's the pic of the reverse on those. I'll post that silver, as soon as it shows up.
