I found this a couple of months ago behind the dredger. I was following right behind them as they spit sand out onto the beach. It looks kinda old. Does anyone have any info or opinions on it.

I searched the newly laid sands for probably a total of forty hours and did not find a single other item.

When I looked at it under the loupe. It looks as if the ring part was crimped by hand to the medallion

Any opinions?

Erik

Is it brass?

In what country did you find it?

I think it's gold. But I have not had it tested yet. I could see a hairline crack in the ring part with my jewelers loupe and its gold colored all the way through. It was found in southern New Jersey.

Thanks

To my eye it has that "art nouveau" look. So I'm thinking Victorian.

I looked up the 8 point star, and it has a number of meanings, both in paganism and Islam. Apparently to the Vikings it represented
the sun god. I couldn't find a match to the ring, but it's an interesting find, and the symbolism dates way way back.
