We pulled this little guy out of an old box that hadn't seen sunlight in probably thirty or more years. The monkey is cast bronze, there is a mold line on the back, and there's no markings. We've never seen a string tied in such a way before but it seems Asian. It is about 33mm tall, 17mm wide, and weighs 22 grams - heavy for it's size.
If it didn't have the loop we thought it might be an opium weight, but we'd never seen an opium weight as a 'charm'.
There's the idea that it might be netsuke, but I'm not sure if netsuke were made of bronze.
[to be clear, this is one monkey, just different views...]
