I went to an old sod farm at dusk today and had some luck. Several rows of sod had been stripped which allowed for a perfect dirt surface to detect! I found a couple buckshot and can slaw and then I got a nice solid signal and out pops a half reale. I think it's Carolus llll and 1789 but not 100% on that. It really made my hunt though. If anyone can find the mint mark I'd be thrilled.
And then my wife came home from helping my widowed mother-in-law pack for a move. She brought home some of my father-in-laws coin collection. Pretty cool silver day!
I'm sorry about the orientation of the reale. I thought I had it right before I posted.
