I went back to the old high school and did a little swingin in the rain with the CZ21. Spent 4 hours getting soaked at 37 degrees and digging lots of tabs, slaw, a couple of big chunks of iron pipe, 46 coins with a face value of $2.72, a token, a key, a band medal, a stainless spoon, 4 wheaties and a class ring.
The token has Texas in English and Japanese so it is probably a Japanese game machine token.
The Yale key looks like and older one from the inscription on the back.
The ring is definitely the find of the day. It was a semi weak signal at about 9 inches and I thought for sure it was another copper penny. It was a nice surprise when I saw the shiny edge of the ring. It was an even bigger surprise when I turned it over and I could see it was a class ring. It is sterling silver. There is no year on the ring and the stone I believe is plastic or something like that anyway (not a real stone). The design is the same on both sides. It looks like it was some kind of cheap generic high school ring that they added the school name to for each customer.
It was made by the COLLEGE SEAL & CREST CO of Cambridge Massachusetts. From what I can piece together on line it looks like the company opened in 1916 and closed in 1968. It produced plated novelty jewelry if my info is correct. If you have better info on the company please post it. I am not having a lot of luck researching this company.
It is broken and the break has eradicated the first initial of the owner. You can see the period for the first initial, the G and the second period.
This is class ring number 22 with 13 returned. With no year, only a last initial and the fact that there are 7 high schools in the USA with the same name, this one has no hope of being returned.
I have done some other hunts with mostly clad and nothing worth posting, but I keep swingin.
Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
