Old "Thing" found while detecting an old mill.

I'm curious to what this is. I found it up by where an old mill used to sit. I just can't figure it out!

It is about 9 inches diameter. Its like an iron with hard little "riffles" inside.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Gold ,Please elaborate do you mean a kerosene heater?

The coils of wire are reminiscent of an electric heater- as electricity passes through the multitude of coils, they glow and give of heat. There was probably more to it such as a fan or a stand.
