Here is my booty for the day... Kind of curious if anyone can identify the button and lego piece as well as the age of the airplane.

  • The lego piece feels heavy but not as pliable as pure lead, I couldn't seem to bend it.
  • The airplane is cast of metal (came up as a nickel/pull tab on my ACE 250 if I recall), hollow and the wheels feel like old rubber
  • The button is plastic on the front, metal on the back, I don't recall how that one registered on my detector

As always, your combined expertise is much appreciated. Please ask for any more details you may need, I do have a digital scale if needed.

Nice digs and thanks for sharing those pictures

After some cleaning I was able to identify the plane. It had Midge Toy Rockford IL embossed on the inside. According to a few sites it's anywhere from 40's to 60's but this site has it listed as 1957 so I'll at least go with 50's.

Still no idea on that "Lego" piece, it just strikes me as odd because it isn't corroded at all and it looks like a Lego brick but it's definitely metal and might likely have some lead in it as it is heavy for its size.

The button may just be some random button off of some person's jacket so that may be a long shot. Even so, I look forward to your responses.

The airplane would be later that 1949 (swept wing). Doesn't appear to be a specific aircraft, however.

the lego piece may be part of a simple slide switch..contact plate

Plus, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on 18 September 1947. I'm thinking mid 1950's toy plane.
