Well another day and another great set of finds. The first find was my first coin from the 1800s and was an 1889 Indian head. Then a Seth Thomas watch back and a silver fork found their way under my coil. My fiancée dug a shallow signal and found the blasting tag and the clip. Was a great time enjoying the hobby!

I was told stories the miners would have a tag board at the mine entrance or somewhere close and would use numbered tags for a "role call" in case of blasting or any other emergency situation where everyone needed to be accounted for. If your tag was missing off the board emergency crews would begin searching for that number or person

OK, I call them miners tags, never heard 'blasters' before. Cheers

Nice finds ! Congrats on your oldest coin thus far - I still haven't found an Indian Head cent after nine years of detecting ! I've got a good
shot at it this summer on a road trip into New mexico and Colorado - including a ghost town near Telluride , Co.

That's awesome! Should be a great road trip and lots of places to check out. I used to live in a small town about 40 miles northwest of Telluride called Norwood. If you happen to be in the small town of Segundo CO on this trip, I have access to about 5000 acres of of land. (that's the old camp these founds were claimed) maybe you could try your luck. Send me a message if your around
