Ok ... Found thru experiments in my test garden
All rings tested at 5" - clay / sandy loam
Dry and damp conditions
Settings :
Sensitivity : 88
Ground balance auto set then two pad button pushes (+) positive
Disc set : 50
Ring 1- thin gold band (size 8) 14k
Ring 2- med. gold initial ring. 14k
Ring 3 - large class ring 14 k
Dry with grass
Ring 1: target id (39-40) solid to one pass tone ( target engaged when 90 degree resweep)
Ring 2 : target id (57-58) solid lock
Ring 3 : target id ( 80-82 ) part lock but stable
Wet soil : I purposely watered soil then waited 2 hours before detecting area
Ring 1 : ( 45-48)
Ring 2: (58-59) very close to lousy pull tab lock id number
Note: when target signal is very clean sounding (from all angles) I dig in this range
Ring 3: (84-85) some (90) locking...... tones change a little but repeatable
Forget waving rings in front of loop , check in the ground.
I buried these rings a year ago and put my machines thru the paces, nobody knows where they are except me.
