This morning, I went out to a nearby Tot Lot, the wood chipped type with the
swings, playground equipment, etc. In addition to the 3 dimes, 1 nickel and 10 pennies
(9 zinc, 1 copper-non wheat) I came across a huge BUTCHER KNIFE about 12 Inches long !!!! I was really surprised something like this would be just laying on the surface of a Tot Lot ! Well, since it did not look to have any blood on it, I figured someones picnic basket or something dropped it...so I got a napkin & picked it up & put it in the 55 Gal metal trash barrel. Geesh, just imagine if a young child went there later this
morning after church or something to play in there !!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad I saw that early this morning, before anything bad could have happened
with a young child. Whew...anyways, here are the pics I took of that knife this morning with my camera phone:

Makes you wonder how it got there, that's for sure. This Spring I found a buck knife locked in the open position buried about a foot below the pitcher's mound at a local park. HMMM

Looks like my digging knife. Glad you found it and properly disposed before a child found it. I can't imagine how it could have gotten there.

;) RR

Wow, thats kind of scary if some little kid got ahold of that. So nice find on a safety note.

I can't help but wonder what in god's name a knife like that is doing at a tot lot (scary stuff)--- maybe you should call the cops a drop a "tip" anon of course --- if might have belong to some one up to no good -- Ivan

I am sure the owner would want it back, does anyone have the current address of OJ?????

Good job "cleaning up" the place making it safer for the kiddies. Hope you get a nice reward of some nice keepers for it next time out.

I have found 7 knifes this year in tot lots, none that big, so you never know what will pop out and greet you. Well done!

Smiles!

about 8 years ago I found a nice high quality serving spoon in a tot lot, and we still use it today. A find is a find...Ryan

thats crazy! if people had any idea how much dangerous stuff we find in tot lots they wouldnt let their kids play in them. good job getting it out of there!

You threw it away?? Thats stainless steel and at the rate its selling, just make a spot and throw all your stainless steel and sell it when you have enough!! It is good no child will be hurt because you took the time to pick it up and remove it!

Kiddies play there in the day, crackheads hang out there at night. Not suprised at all at the things found in parks 'kiddie' designated or not. I've found guns, knives, you name it in parks before.

Perhaps this is why parents are told time and time again, hey, it's not the government's job to keep your little 'accident' safe, it's YOUR responsibility to supervise and watch out for your kid. A 10 - 12 year old on up I don't think this would be a problem with, they can get the same thing right at home, but a younger kid, should NOT be running around in a park unsupervised to begin with for this exact reason.

Id have taken it home with me, recycle it. However also on that, it'd be a good root cutter for those coin signals that happen to show 'under' the oak tree :P

Good thing you were the one that found it!
That is our lot in life.........cleaning up what others leave behind.

GOOD JOB DONE..... proberly some punks knife he dropped,,,,running over the park,,, flew out the back of his degraded pants,,,

I don't know if throwing a knife like that in the trash is such a great idea..
even if it doesn't look like it has blood on it doesn't mean it wasn't washed off
and being in the trash can now puts the next person, garbage man or otherwise at risk, if somebody foolishly tries to pack down the trash or something

I would have taken it in to the authorities and made sure not to put my prints on it..
let them test it/dispose of it/whatever

but yeah it could have been a good root cutter or gone into the stainless steel pile =D

its crazy the things laying around in tot lots,i found a 3 foot axe in a school woodchips this year,an hour before that there was a group of 3 or 4 year old kids from a near by day care playing there.
there were guys working on the school roof ,i asked them if they lost an axe, sure enough it was theres, kids climing on the school roof stealing there tools.

WTG.........
