I just got back from a 3 day camping trip with the hopes of some great finds in a old park and camp ground. Well all did not go well, found very little in both sites as they were very heavily renovated and pounded by earlier detectors in years gone by. Ended up in my wife's mothers place, nothing to be found except for 2 wheat pennies (4 found all weekend and all 1944) and I was ready to pack it in when I got a high tone.
At the same time the wife rang to see when I needed to be picked up to go back to the camp grounds, I told her I just got a good signal and it is either a big hunk of steel or something good, (more likely junk) so you may as well come and get me. I hung up and proceeded to dig my plug and 4 inches down sitting in the dirt was the biggest damn silver coin I have ever seen (Big to me)
I carefully removed and could not believe my eyes, it was a 1938 Walking Liberty Half Dollar!! Yessss!!! (Hand pump, dance a little jig, fireworks going off) MY VERY FIRST WALKER!!! As far as detecting this weekend goes it was a complete bust but that big ole silver made up for it all, it just takes one to make my day and I am happy. The thrill equaled my very first silver find 6 silvers ago, yeah I am new at detecting and this is old news to the pro's out there but it was like all my Christmas's rolled into one and I love it.
Total for the weekend
4 wheaties
$1.50 in Quarters
$1.40 in Dimes
.32 cents in pennies
= $3.22
and one in your face half dollar....oh yeah!!!
Any way some pics HH everyone and thanks for looking.
