I went out after work yesterday afternoon for a little hunt. I hit the same old house that I have been pounding for 5 weeks. All of the easy targets are long gone, but the place still gives up keepers... albeit one at the time.

I dug some trash... then got a weak high tone, just a little chirp, the numbers were jumpy, but 84 appeared a couple of times. I pulled a nail out of the hole, then, I pulled this 1936 Merc! It was the only coin I got, but that's OK with me. Around here, if you get a silver, it is a great day!

That is silver #8 for the year.

Don't hesitate to leave encouraging comments.
Thanks for looking.

Nice merc. I've been hitting a lot of 1800s sites lately. I kind of miss getting the mercs. My daughter likes them so much I had her a charm made from the first one I dug.

After the last few time out a lone Merc looks pretty darn good to me! Another nice find, Tom.

Nice merc. It would make my day to dig a merc. Kinda on a silver slump, congrats.

nice!! better than the one I found today. which was none..lol

Any silver is a good day !!! now a day of pull tabs, nails and big iron close to the surface is a discussion for another thread...LOL

I have found other silver coins, but I still just adore finding a Mercury dime. There is just something special about seeing it come out of the ground.

Very nice Merc, its in nice shape. Good work Tom, I came up empty handed past two days. I'm jealous.

Thats a nice one! Yeah dig em all, even if it has those grunts, if I see 60s thru 80s w low tones I dig em, nice work!

Thanks cjon455. I have been digging more tones and numbers lately. At first, I only dug 79 and above, and they had to hit in two directions. As I have begun to learn the AT Pro a little more, I have started trying to dig faint highs and the nickels (53).... of course all I get is pull tabs... I got more silver dimes than I have nickels because I hate those pull tabs so much.

Hopefully the "dig more" strategy will get me some more treasure!

Its tough, but it pays off, indians Have registered anywhere from 65-78 for me depending on depth, soil conditions, etc., I used to NEVER dig below 75 when I first got my atpro, my god the things ive likely missed..... for me at private properties anything repeatable above 40 is getting dug up and some times it doesn't have to be repeatable as long as I hit a tone in a direction repeatedly I'll pick it out. I dont know if you have yet, but try turning your iron audio on in trashy spots, yes it gives an annoying grunt but its really nice when you hear that hi tone mixed in with the grunt

When I had the AT Pro, I learned to dig anything consistent above 50 readings.

I had gotten a little spoiled with my CTX and would pick and choose my signals. When I went back over the areas with my Deus I learned that I had missed some targets as a result. I dug everything with the Deus because I was still learning the signals. I ended up finding some IH cents that I had missed. Now, I dig anything consistent in the ferrous readings of 12 when I use the CTX. These would read in the 60s on the AT Pro.

I love mercury dimes awesome find congrats!

Congrats. Any silver is good!

Nice Merc. I hit my pounded out rent house and in keeping with your one at a time theme, I did find a 1914 wheat, but that was it!! Congrats on the silver.
