Haven't posted in some time, cuz the city just keeps adding to their list of houses to be demolished, and I have to trash out two a day just to keep up.
On one such house, a Cream City Colonial built in 1853, I found this inside one of the walls. Apparently, one of the masons left it behind, and it got bricked in.
It's a copper coffee mug, and was apparently hand-hammered, based on the shape of the bottom, and the fact that it has a seam which was bent over while the copper was still hot, and allowed to form its own seal.
I've got the greatest job in the world, getting paid to hunt for treasures in other people's trash, but it's even better when I stumble across a piece of history like this. Just call me an urban archaeologist, lol.
