It has been a very rough week, a few goats in my family's goat herd came down with pneumonia, and one of our nicest goats unfortunately passed away, the first ever death in the herd. To get away from all of that I decided to go to a new cellar hole I found a few days ago. I hadn't been able to go to any new places in a few weeks, since my computer's hard drive broke, so I was really looking forward to going to this cellar hole. The cellar hole was very trashy, but eventually I got a nice 80 in very easy to dig soil. I pulled out the first half of the spoon mold, and instantly knew what it was. I started jumping and yelling, because I have always hoped I would find a rat tail spoon mold. 5 feet away I got the same signal, and dug another one! They are both broken in the same place, so I assume that is why the mold was thrown away. I left shortly after, my other finds were a musket ball and coincidentally part of an 1800's brass spoon. I am definitely going to go back there tomorrow and see if I can find anything else. I have never seen another spoon mold posted on here before, and am very happy to finally find one!
The two pewter spoons in the photo are mine, and I am very happy to now have the mold to display with them!
