When a farmer in the Hoxne village just outside of Suffolk, England, lost his hammer in his field, his neighbor Eric Lawes stepped in to help. Armed with his trusty metal detector, Eric was ready for anything, yet he never expected to make one of the most incredible accidental discoveries in Europe.

It wasn?t clay pottery; no, it was gold and silver ? 60 pounds of gold and silver, in fact. Sixty pounds! This was unprecedented. Incredibly, there was even more.

The buried treasure consisted of more than 15,000 Roman coins, dozens of silver spoons, and various golden items. Because of the find?s size, it because known as the Hoxne Hoard ? great alliteration and a memorable name.

I'm going to have to look for more lost hammers!

But did he find the hammer?

But did he find the hammer?

I'm willing to bet he forgot all about the hammer, with his share once sold to museum he can buy a thousand hammers.
