Made a couple stops today, the first couple were essentially just dumping the rejects and the last stop I had tried to do last weekend but the vault teller was not there so nothing was available.

Went back this weekend to pick up some more bags. Ended up with

1 - $500 bag of quarters
1 - $500 bag of dimes
3 - $100 bags of nickels
5 - $50 bags of pennies

$500 Quarters:
Did a quick edge search on the quarters...skunk...not even a Canadian

$500 Dimes:
The dimes had a good silver percentage

7 pre-1965 Roosevelt (1948-D, 1951(2), 1961-D, 1962-D, 1963-D, 1964-D)

9 Canadian (1968 Nickel flat grooves, 1979, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1992, 2000, 2001-P, 2003-P Uncrowned)

1 safety pin

1 Spiel Mark dated 1907 (cardboard coin)

I'll have to report back on the rest later.

quarters are starting to annoy me. haven't found a silver one in months.

you have good dime finds though. seems like i'm finding less of them nowadays too.

Finished 2 of the nickel bags last night

Bag #1
16 pre-1960 Jefferson (1940, 1941, 1942, 1946(2), 1946-D, 1948, 1952-S, 1954, 1954-D, 1956(2), 1956-D, 1957-D, 1958-D, 1959-D)

5 Canadian (1949, 1985, 1988, 1993, 1998)
8 Foreign
Cayman Islands, 10 Cents (1982)
Thailand, 1 Baht (1990, 1993, 2004(3), 2005(2)))

1 penny

1 Namco Token

The 1949 Canadian nickel is one that I didn't have and a style I don't believe I have ever found while CRHing before, a 12-sided George VI.

Bag #2
22 pre-1960 Jefferson (1938, 1939, 1940(2), 1940-D, 1946, 1947, 1948-D, 1952-D(2), 1953-D, 1954(2), 1954-D(2), 1955-D, 1957-D, 1958-D, 1959-D(4))

3 Canadian (1986, 1989, 2000)

Quarters are where I happen to have the most holes in my collection so I keep doing them, and yes they can be annoying. Good thing they are fast to edge search. Since I also collect the Canadian ones I usually find a few keepers at least with every bag.

Dimes have been good to me so far this year, decent variety and numbers. Just wish a merc or better would find its way into one of my bags soon. :)

Finished the last bag of nickels today.

Pretty average at best

26 pre-1960 Jefferson (1939(3), 1940(3), 1941, 1946(2), 1946-D, 1948-D, 1953-D, 1954-D(2), 1955-D, 1958-D(6), 1959-D(5))

2 Canadian (1986, 1996)

3 Foreign (Great Britain, 1 New Penny (1971), Mexico, 20 Centavos (1983), Mexico, 50 Centavos (2001))

3 Pennies

Finally started on the pennies from this batch.

Bag #1
9 wheat pennies (1940, 1942-D, 1948-D, 1951-D, 1952-D, 1953-D, 1955-D(2), 19XX)

20 Canadian (1941, 1958, 1962, 1966(2), 1967, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975(2), 1978(2), 1982, 1983, 1984(2), 1985, 1987)

1 Foreign (Bahamas, 1 Cent (1987))

If I kept the copper this bag would probably be around 50% copper or better, but unfortunately it had been picked over for wheat pennies. Only remember seeing two coins 2000 or newer in the whole bag.

I decided since it appears I won't have much time this year for searching that I am going to primarily only do wheat penny / foreign / oddity searching and not try to find errors like I had been. Basically the main things I will be missing is I'll miss about 50% of the memorials that I might still be looking for (primarily 1970-S small date and 1960 small date). Basically depends on which side is up when I search through the bag.

So using the change in method I managed to get 3 more bags of pennies from this batch (takes about 35 minutes per $50).

Bag #1
---------
17 wheat pennies (1919, 1935, 1938, 1944, 1944-D, 1945-D, 1947, 1948-D, 1949-S, 1951-D(2), 1953-D(2), 1955-D(2), 1957-D, 1958-D)

26 Canadian (1957, 1970(2), 1974(3), 1976, 1978(2), 1981(5), 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987(3), 1989(3), 1991, 1993, 2007-RCM)

1 dime

Bag #2
---------
9 wheat pennies (1930, 1941-D, 1945-D, 1953-D, 1955-D(3), 1956-D, 1957)

16 Canadian (1955 Shoulder Fold, 1961, 1967, 1970(3), 1972, 1978, 1980(2), 1982, 1983, 1987, 1994, 1998, 2003 Royal Diademed)

1 play money penny

Bag #3
---------
25 wheat pennies (1918-S, 1937(2), 1937-D, 1941, 1944(2), 1944-D, 1945, 1946-D, 1950, 1950-D, 1951-S, 1952-D, 1954-D(2), 1956-D, 1957-D(3), 1958-D(5))

40 Canadian (1962, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1976(2), 1977, 1978, 1979(3), 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1989(2), 1990(2), 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1998, 1999(5), 2001(2), 2003 Royal Diademed(2), 2004, 2005, 2006(3))

1 penny counterpunched with the letter R
1 penny counterpunched with Kennedy

I highlighted the ones that were new varieties for me in 2008 in red.

Note: The 1918-S is a first one I have found ever.

Only 30 left and I will have found the complete lincoln series.

The only "easy" one left of the the 30 at least as far as mintages go is 1910. Still can't believe I haven't found that one yet.
In 2007 alone I found 3 - 1909 (2 were VDB) and 4 - 1911.

Nice going GMan! Rack up those wheats!

Have you found a 2008 yet? I got my first yesterday. Ironic that I've searched hundreds from the casino and I get my first '08 when I bought a drink for $1.99 and got a penny back.
