There is a twofold object of a resurvey: First, the adequate protection of existing right acquired under the original survey in the matter of their location on the earth's surface, and second, the proper marking of the boundaries of the remaining public lands. Surveyors do it all the time as this is there "Bread and butter" outside of "Tax lots". The "Resurvey" is rerunning the lines and corners of the "Original surveys". "Corner accessories" will help big time.

Thanks for pointing this out. This will help others to research and point out themselves information about "Jurisdiction of Resurveys".

Certain important considerations are involved in the execution of Government resurveys of an entirely different character from those relating strictly to the making of original surveys.....

From any "Manual of Surveying Instructions" as well as "BLM" web pages.

Did not view the entire 56 minute OPB Gold rush days and Ghost Towns. How ever at around 52:20 minutes there is the statement of:

It is hard to keep your mining heritage when you are not working it.

Simple one way of 'Working it' is about "Resurveys". There of course other ways as well. However the information about "Resurveys" is already in place and may cost less without any questions of "Jurisdictions".
There is enough reading that everyone can look at as well.
