I was having a smoke outside the back door at work today, and noticed a pile of broken concrete and a small bulldozer further down the parking lot. This, of course grabbed my attention immediately ;). Turns out, guys were cutting out sections of the concrete floor of a very old building (1905 is the earliest date i know of). when i got off work tonight, i wandered down there, and found the entire backside of the ground floor open. So i grabbed my MD and digger, and desided to step in there for a few. There were 6 sections approx 8'x10' cut out of the concrete, down to the dirt! This is in the middle of downtown, so i was rather skiddish and worked all six sections rather quickly. i found alot of broken iron pipe, but little else except this!

I just wish i could id it...If ne1 has clues or suggested sites i would greatly appreciate it! I'm a newb and this looks like it could be my oldest find, so i'm excited. I just wish i had a 4" coil, would be alot easier to work around some of the iron trash. But all i have is my little TA 100, and its 8" coil isnt interchangeable.

yeah, i think thats a match! Thanks BDoo! Didnt expect help that fast ;D. on mine, however, the coin is off-center. I checked the pic on ebay, and mine has no bands and where the date should be in relation to the head, isnt even on the coin. So i guess i may have a counterfeit?

hey, no problem, you're welcome Joe!

I am not an expert on colonials (or much of anything really...lol) but I know there are a lot a varieties out there and I would bet yours is real. Who knows?
Back in those days, the coins were struck off center a lot by mistake,
the dies out of alignment etc...
or, that might just be a quirk with this particular coin??

Or...
another eBay auction showing an old counterfit is potentually worth... a lot more than the original. This variety has the date on the bottom back...

Get back there and search some more...slowly, carefully, before they seal er up.

I cant do it tonight. But you better believe that i'll be checking the situation again tomorrow night, with a little more confidence. If they fill it in..oh well - I got something
