Anyone order something off of eBay and when it comes to your house the receipt says Amazon?

I ordered some organic essential oils off of eBay. During the options questions when ordering it asked if it was a gift. I clicked yes. Upon opening I was disappointed to discover they were not organic. I looked at paperwork in package and it says Amazon. There was a thank you from Amazon and an invoice/gift receipt from Amazon. Weird. I did ask why everything says Amazon when I ordered off of eBay when I inquired about why they were not organic and asked for a return. They never answered that question....

Yes, I have had this happen with books. I believe it's called drop shipping. Seller doesn't actually have the product listed on eBay. When you buy they order from Amazon and ship directly to you. Seller makes profit off the spread.

Sent from a spun out toilet paper tube (one ply)!

They have an Amazon Prime account and get free two day shipping.

I ordered a baby outfit from Amazon, for our new neighbors baby and was a little dismayed it didn't come from a store in business but was bought at Walmart with the tag was cut in half. I sent it back to Amazon for a refund.

Did you have any problems returning/refund? They did send a return label via email. Just have to wait now.

Thanks for the replies, makes sense.

What do you mean it didnt come from a store in business?

You realize that items from Amazon can come from individual sellers, just like on ebay?

I'm really confused by this comment. Was it not the right size? color? fabric? Did the baby not like it? The sole reason you returned it was because the tag was cut in half?

Got the refund. Worked out fine. Just seemed weird to order on eBay and receive/return to Amazon.

It's a great way to make extra money. I buy stuff on sale and turn around and sell it on ebay for a profit. I used to do that with video games but ebay raised the percentage they take from my profit. A video game would be reg $29 and I would see a sale at say Best Buy for $10, I'd call best buy and put several on hold and I would make a post on ebay for however many I put on hold, say 10 at $20 each. If they sold I would go pick them up, if they didn't I wouldn't. Easy money.

So let me understand. You could call your local Best Buy, ask them to hold something (without paying)? Hold for how long? Then, if it didn't sell on Ebay, you can just drop the hold freely?

Thanks!

Over a year ago, I bought a two-part 1/2" power mortise chisel with its internal bit from an Ebay vendor. It was shipped from Amazon.com. Vendor's hype had it on sale, discounted, and the picture showed a SET of them, but the last of the description told it was only one...

There were two manufactures of the power mortise chisels, vendor sent the cheap one and not anything like the picture within the set shown... Vendor took it back.... Man! Using Amazon.com as "YOUR OWN" inventory, and having it shipped from Amazon makes for good profits on items that the vendor never owned!! If I wanted just one, Amazon's price was way cheaper and free shipping!

A similar thing, again, happened to me. It was 1-ton rolling trolley on "sale" with free shipping on Ebay. Ebay had a coupon saying "Spend $50 or more and earn 5 times the Ebay Bucks which do add up each quarter they're issued. The Ebay Vendor's final cost on this one was about what I'd pay if I went and got it, and had to pay state tax, but using the company's 20% discount coupon, I could have saved $10. Would have I bought it if I had to WHOLE STORY? 7734, No!

1 Ton Push Beam Trolley for Heavy Loads Fits Standard Wide Beam Tracks | eBay

Vendor proudly stated it would be shipped from one of HIS many vendor's. The 1-Ton Trolley was shipped from Harbor Freight....

Another vendor with no inventory and selling for profit....at your expense. Truly, Buyer Beware!

That has been going on for years. My sister bought a doll, paid for shipping. Seller had it sent, free shipping from amazon, .

I am a seller on Ebay, Amazon and a few other services. Here is how it works. Amazon stores my products for me at their warehouse. I can list that same item on ebay or wherever else I please. Once I get the sale I go to my amazon account and tell them to ship that item if it was not sold on Amazon itself. I tend not to do this often for this very reason of confusion as it seems to make people feel a little like WTF? But yeah Amazon is just normal everyday people selling. Other than stuff that is actually amazons items. hope this helps.
