origin, age of this buckle, necktie clasp or broach

Hi all. The relic beening quite what i,m not sure. Found today on a gold feild . pressed copper about 2 inch by 1 inch wide. Quite thick for pressed copper and the cross pin on the back fell off when dug.
I would to known is origin and age and what it really is

I'm fairly positive it's one half of a small stamped copper/brass two piece belt/sash buckle - missing it's bar from the back.

I think the "hinge" it too big to work as a locket/frame cover.
