I wasn't able to get out to hunt today, so I decided to take a few minutes and compare the performance of the x35 9" coil and the HF Elliptical coil using both the XP ORX and XP Deus in my test garden. IMO the XP Deus had a slight advantage over the XP ORX for this test. I used 2 different targets next to iron and coal. The first target was a Confederate GA State Seal button and the second was an ornate piece of colonial gold. I tried to use the same settings on each coil with both the Deus and ORX. The one thing that I couldn't be sure of what the TX power which I assume is set at 2 on the ORX. I hope that you like the video.

Just watched it on the tube. It popped on my phone when you uploaded it. Nice tests. Thx

Great video. I now have the ORX and for the price it's amazing. There were a lot of settings on the Deus I never used. The ORX seems to he so close to performance equal to the Deus that I think I will be happy with it

great video, thanks. i don't think that I heard where you had your 2nd break point. whatever it is.. why there? you used 28khz for frequency, right? oh, and iron is really pronounced aarn... just ask CD.... lol

I set my second break point at 25 for this test on the Deus. Can’t change tone breaks on the ORX. I change the second tone break on sites depending on the trash. So for this test I wanted to hear the low conductive colonial gold and the high conductive GA button so I set the second tone to 25. On high modern trash sites I will raise the second tone to 40 or 45. On colonial sites I lower the second tone to 11 or 12 (just above disc level) to hear all conductive targets above the second tone break as high tone (3rd tone). Yes iron is pronounced at iron volume 3 or higher on the Deus. The Iron vol on the ORX is set, probably equivalent to 3 on the Deus. The coal pieces also have a pronounced sound.

Great video. The diffrence maker between ORX and Deus in this case might be the silencer settings. XP hasn't been crystal clear on the info regarding "under the hood" fixed expert settings on the ORX vs. those that are adjustable on the Deus for the ORX coin programs, but they did say this:

Q: Does the ORX use the same settings as the Deus?
A: Coin fast is almost exactly the same as Deus Fast, it uses an active silencer depending on your reactivity settings. Coin Deep replicates the Deus deep program 6, it uses no silencer regardless of your reactivity settings.

So on the Deus you had silencer off (-1) but on the ORX you were using Coin Fast which means silencer was on (probably at a level of 2 which is the default for reactivity setting 3 on Deus) which explained the one way hits when you had the coal and iron next to the targets. Silencer effectively blanks/breaks-up sensed mixed-ferrous/ferrous signals (it was designed to make crown caps more obvious), so it can cause short duration blanking in iron beds which will cause non-ferrous target masking, even at high reactivity settings. Really have no use for the silencer filter, so if I had an ORX, I would be using Coin Deep, primarily.

So, a more comparative apples-apples Deus/ORX test might be using Coin Deep vs. your Deus 3-tone program to see if it responded similarly. Would love to see that test video sequel, Brian. Hint, hint.

Thanks for posting the vid.

Yes I feel that in my area the deep mode on the ORX sees targets clearer when next to iron.. and when I set the reactivity to 3 or 2.5 in deep mode it's still faster than most anything out there.
Fast I didn't use much on the Deus unless an area with lots of trash as to me the Deus seemed to pick out targets in iron better while in deep mode using higher reactivity settings. Just seemed clearer to.my ears.

One thing though, it still won't be apples to apples unless you use Deus Deep as the basis for your Deus 3-tone program (vice Deus Fast) because Deep uses V 2 vice Version 4/5 processing filters used in all the other modes. The old school Deep filters tend to enhance deep target signals at the expense of perhaps a little more chatter and crackle.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will conduct another test with both the ORX and Deus again using the coin deep and deep program in the next week or so. It will probably be broken up into a few different videos.

very good explanation with good responses. should give someone the proof that the ORX is still an awesome machine
