Despite the heat I had a rare evening free, so I went. I searched out the supposed location of a riverside house foundation, and I found it....

Find included an 1835 Matron head, 19th C. Garder buckle and crotal bell, broken bell, pewter spoon handle and pieces, a couple D-buckles, and 18th C. Flat buttons. Iron finds are rose head and cut nails, and an 1/2 ox shoe

I couldn't find info on any comb being made with a brass spine and iron bristles, but I haven't any other idea. Suggestions?

The brush was horrific, so fall and winter should help.

Enjoy Steve

Nice finds Scrappy. Your metal comb when whole, could have been a comb for a horses mane. They used to use metal combs before the brushes came along. Just a thought, as I have found a few on farms over the years.

Based on the other stuff - maybe what is left of a horse grooming comb?

That thought did cross my mind. It looked awful big for a hair comb, especially since they were a bit smaller than today's back then.

Looks like another good site, congrats on your finds and good luck

Great group of finds steve! Awesome ya got out in this heat and grabbed some goods!

You're a dang trooper Steve. You couldn't pay me to land detect out in this 110 degree heat! That site is definitely worth hitting when the brush goes to sleep.

I'm with Joey, ain't no way I would hunt in this heat. You're hardcore and it pays off.

Very cool!!! Nice finds!!! I always like the oldest stuff the best :)

Congrats Scraps! Glad to see that you got out, despite the heat and brambles.

Best of luck to you!

Sweet bell dude. I didn't notice that earlier. Looks like a good site to hit this winter.

I don't know about hardcore, more desperate. Haven't had much detecting time lately before yesterday.

Yesterday my wife literally hosed me down in the yard when I got home. Like a dog but she didn't say cute things to me like someone would to a dog. Just "you stink" and "you're filthy".

Congrats Scraps! Glad to see that you got out, despite the heat and brambles.

Best of luck to you!

BTW, if you're thinking of a trip north, November would be perfect. I think I have about 6 overgrown spots that are going to rock. Tell the old goat too! Lol

Glad to see you got out, more then I've been out.
Like that buckle and of coarse that Crotal bell.

Nice relic hunt and the LC is a very welcome addition, congratulations! :occasion14:

Your an animal, nice work Steve!

It's a sweet bell right? My better half liked it which doesn't happen often. Winter will be a good time, but I really have my sites set on October bud.

Thx DH. Yeah, before my last two hunts, I hadn't been out in two weeks. It's tough not getting out.

That's funny man, I am the youngest of all my wife's 4 siblings, so they nicknamed me Scrappy. It stuck and now everyone calls me that. And yes, it was based on that guy right there! Lol
