a friend owns 1600 acres in the area of the dam at buggs island near oxford/henderson area...Confederates had a long term winter camp on the property for several thousand soldiers,,,if my memory serves me correctly i think it was robert e lees daughter that is buried in the area....the family i mentioned still has a sword that lee gave them for their hospitality....there was until a couple years ago a building on the property that was used as a stockade type jail by these soldiers...there is an unsearched {dry} well directly behind where the building stood that dates from that time...........i might, as long as its not deer season, turkey or duck season, be able to arrange a hunt on this virgin property.....contact me pm and i will see what i can do...if nothing else you now know there was a large military presence in the area for an extended time...........gldhntr
