Hey Folks. I usually use a goofy title to make folks "curios" but, wanted any button experts to chime in with any other details on my newest coolest recovery. Hit a local permission in my village and recovered this 25 mm Oxfordshire Light Infantry button. A bit of research showed the button manufacturer Pitt & Company was a London button maker on St. Martin's Lane from 1875-1895. So this button must fall into those years. I also read this was an "officer's button" manufactured from 1881-1895. Anyway I really love the button and it's one of my better ones for sure. Another one of those finds that makes you wonder how and why it ended up where it did? Like the little buckle doodad too. And if you're going to dig Hot Wheels cars you might as well get a really cool one. Yeah, the Plymouth Superbird has a HEMI!:headbang: Thanks for stopping by. Kurios1

Welcome to my little world - stuff like this happens to me all the time! :laughing7:

I love digging old buttons, and that's a nice one!

Thanks mate. I agree. It's nice enough I might research some cleaning methods if anyone feels this button can look a little better than it currently does. I won't be hasty as I have messed up some of my better finds "experimenting". I don't want to risk this one. How did an English Military button from this era end up in a tiny rural hick town in northern Illinois? Got any ideas? LOL!

Really interesting button. Are you in England?

Not even close. North Central Illinois. Lee Center, Illinois to be exact. How this British Military button got here will be another mystery for the ages. An actual British soldier? Button collector? Who knows? And yes, I wish I could make the button talk. :dontknow:

great button, people travel for many reasons, many we will never know or understand. Some actually had some military reasons but I wonder if he simply was new to the country and just moved there, like a lot of other people. pretty cool no matter what.

Aside from the 1800s British military button you mentioned your "village" so I thought you might be across the pond.

Sweet button kevin. That's an old one good job on the research. Love that Superbird just think 4 grand off the dealer lot back in 1970 with a freakin Hemi...... Keep up the good finds Bro!!!!!

An old button day would make my day.

This one little button did make my day. I don't expect much and monetary value of the find is not that significant to me. Age and historical content is what I consider "valuable". Thanks for chiming in.
