Panning around Breckenridge, CO

Hi everyone-

I'm new to this forum, what a great place you guys have here!

My family and I are planning a trip to Breckenridge in August, and wanted to know places to take the kids (6 & 9 year olds, and they have the rockhound bug! ) panning for gold in the area. I've done some research, and know about Cache Creek, but maybe some other places close by?
We have a jeep and can get off the beaten path. Any ideas?
