PANOPEPTON is a food? 6 inch aluminum whatz-it

Hello!

I dug this today downtown Eugene Oregon. I thought it was a letter opener at first, but I really don't know! It is made of aluminum . . . . The front reads, COMPLIMENTS OF / FAIRCHILD BROS. & FOSTER / NEWYORK. (ALONG WITH INCHES MARKED LIKE A RULER 1 THRU 6). And, the back side reads, PANOPEPTON / IS A FOOD.

I pictured it along side of a buffalo nickel that I dug today.

Anyone know what this thing is?!

seems to match a feepay auc 230210603288 where it is described as a letter opener

found on web 'Panopepton' beef extract, "the pure nutritious substance of beef and wheat in perfect solution"

also saw on one of the youtube bottle digger videos they pulled out a bottle for this stuff.
