Well, as the season seems to be in a comfortably cold state and any prospects of detecting start withering away, I have begun to accept the likelyhood that the next time I head out might not be for awhile. However, I made a somewhat noteworthy find last night without my metal detector. We had to go to hell Walmart for a few items and when we exited the car, there on the ground, in the dirty slush, was a bracelet. I looked at it carefully and it looked like the real deal, and I even saw a hallmark, but it was too dark to make it out. When I got home, I disinfected it with antibacterial hand soap and looked at it under a bright light. It IS gold, 10K MEX, with four small unidentifiable stones. I was going to scan it, but you know where stuff like that goes immediately.

Did it satisfy my need to explore and discover? Not really, but it put a smile on my face anyhow. Just thought I'd tell you guys. This is the blacktop hunting season, don't forget to check out the parking lots and the bases of snow mountains as they melt. People drop all kinds of stuff into the snow and slush and many times it can't be seen until the snow melts.

Have a good New Years if I don't stop in until then...

Joe

Hey Joe,

Nothing wrong with that....

Parking lot snow hunting could be fun to do after the stores closed - if their parking lot lights are still on.
Or maybe before the stores open - but I usually don't get up that early.
You don't really have to be concerned with making a nice plug and filling the holes if you're detecting the snow mounds of suburbia. Ice picks required?

Just remember, if your signal is below the blacktop, you may want to move on to another spot.

Dang good deal Joe! Dats what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Hey Pat (Gibbsium) you out there? Remember the "pit" in the back lot of Libertyville? When I was at the Batcave there we'd take the group out there at lunch time once or twice a week and find enough of those vendoteria debit cards and cash to have a group pizza party every week from mid-Jan on through April. With tons of other goodies as well. Not to mention the sheer number of pagers and phones we recovered.

If you have a large mfr or other work place near you, find where they dump their snow because that's where people loose the most since they have to take the most time to clear windows after a shift when snowfall occurs.

gold is a sweet thing to find, no matter where you find it

It's always sweet when HAPPY New year comes early in the parking lot :icon_sunny:
Just think about ALL those sledding hills in the next few days. . . who needs the woods

Nice find Joe. Great way to top off the year finding gold. $$$$$$$

Parents / People always say " Keep Your Head Up "
Who listens ?

Many good finds are found.....going against the grain.....

WTG Joe....

Great find, Joe. Really makes you open your eyes to the fact that treasures can be found anywhere.

That's top of the line from the fourth circle of hell Walmart's jewelry department.
