Dug today at an old amusement park that operated early 1900's thru early 1940's.

Is it electrical?? ? Seems to be made of some sort of stone material.
Screw threads on base.

All it says is "PAT JULY 4 1905"

SWR, if your out there, is it some type of insulator?

sherm......i found fragments of a similar item at an old amusement park site around here. the park operated from the late 1800s to 1934. i am guessing it is some sort of electrical device (or part of one) maybe for use with the rides? keep hitting that site! there should be some silver and other goodies there!

got some silver years ago from this site. Think it has been hunted hard for many,
many years. Most of time now I'm digging for artifacts, but if silver pops up, think

item is solid material. Not metal.

I was thinking it did look like a fuse without the fixings :P

Would there be any need to plug an empty fuse socket with
something like this?

For some reason I'm thinking electrical but not sure what for.

It is also Possible Oil Cap, Radiator Cap, Etc.

I beleive that that is a BUSS fuse plug. Sometimes there were slots that were unused in the fuse box and without a plug in it, well, let's just say don't try to change a blown fuse in the dark.

It would be most helpful if they put the patent number on there somewhere, you would have to either have that or the current U.S. classification to search patents prior to 1976 (1976-current are searchable by other terms):
