Just received this Message from the MARS Metal detecting club. Once again those who hunt in Maryland will be challenged with the lose of one more place to hunt. I would say continue to hunt there if you have your permits, then if told you cannot best to check out the other Baltimore Sites to hunt.

Members,
It has come to our attention that Patterson Park in Baltimore City is indefinitely closed to metal detecting. Metal detecting is now off limits at Patterson Park.
This was explained to Kurt Franz and Brad Johns (of the Hoover Boys) of the M.F.S.T.C. club by a ranger named Jennifer. She told them that the archaeologists, who made an actual dig a few years back, had claimed the park and wanted no further metal detecting.
Don't try to understand the logic here. I can't find any either.
There are still signs stating that you CAN detect with a permit, but those are now OBSOLETE.
On the up side, spring's a comin' and there are plenty of parks to go around.
