I had posted this in the Todays Finds but got no response. I was hunting a known Civil War Look-out post on a hill, near a river. I was finding a few Minnie balls and other items, and then I found this pendant. I know what it is....my question is "Why would a pendant be patented?" It has the eagle and thirteen stars and the stripes. Is it a military item produced after the war? If anyone could shed some light on it I would appreciate it. I have yet to see anything else like it. It measures 1-1/8" tall by 1" wide.

Say's it's a patent for the design. I guess so no one else copied it?
