Camped in Penitente Canyon (where the weird stuff happens) on the west side of the San Luis Valley last night. Perfect spot for my bedroll. Those rocks face west and absorb the heat during the day and give it off at night. However, it was almost 90 in the day and only down to the 50's at night so I was a little overdressed, and was fine with one blanket through the night.

I often see cattle hunker next to rocks like that on cold frosty mornings. That's a neat area. Did you get a chance to head up towards Moon Pass? That a pretty cool out of the way area especially during the fall.

No need for a mask there; so lucky.
(Envious) Don.......
Yeah, nobody around. San Luis Valley has had a spike in cases, mostly on the potato farms. Wandered down to Del Norte and yeah that was mask required. Luckily I always got one, cause you got no idea what the requirements are from town to town or county to county up here, so go prepared I guess.

Beautiful place!
