Percussion Cap Tin Info Needed

I have this UMC Percussion Cap tin and need some help. What years would this have been made? I know that United Metallic Cartridge didn't come into existence until 1868 and later purchased Remington. Thanks in advance for the help.

Well according to the patent suit in the article above, the suit took place in 1860 against the other company for copying their design, so they must have been making them before 1868. Then further into the article it reads that UMC had patented the design in 1848.....
