Petrified wood?

Someone told me these pieces are petrified wood. Just curious if anyone knows for sure what it is. Thanks for any help

The skin on it is wood like. It's really weird. The top looks like wood while the inside looks like rock.

It's common for metamorphic rocks to have an almost plant like appearance.

if it's not petrified wood (I'm leaning towards it being so) it's a cool chert nodule, or agate. Where you found this will help identification a lot better, State and Region plz. (you don't have to give us your spot).

I have no idea where they came from. My mom died when I was 12 and left me her rock collection. She spent alot of time in North Africa and Brazil. That's the only info I got on them.

100% pet wood...to call it agate would be ok too,. also jasper....but petrified wood in this case is absolute.

Definitely petrified wood. Years ago you could pick it up in the petrified forest but it's no longer allowed. Lots of pinks, orange, red, blue, etc in those pieces, very cool.

I'm with cheese i remember the same stuff from the petrified forest and i have a couple pieces that i got in a gift shop not quite as colorful but basically the same stuff
