where did you find it? It was hand shaped and polished but do you have any idea on its age?

More than likely water-worn...sure it's possible it's been worked but that would be a question for the "artifacts" forum. Doesn't look like anything a lapidary would do IMO

I found it about 30 yards from a Creek where run-off eroded it out of the ground. I am in SW iowa. And have found several artifacts in the creek. No idea of it's age and it is possibly gneiss.
