PEXTO Pipe wrench with Brass handle

I'll get a pic up tomorrow, but need a little help with this pipe wrench. Bought it for $5. Both the steel jaw and the stem of the wrench have the oval "PEXTO" mark, but the handle is solid brass. The handle has a series of small sized numbers stamped in it. With the help of a motorized wire brush, it appears to be old but cleaned up well.

I didn't find anything on a web search, so if you've seen one or know about what/why the brass, it would give me a start.

Sounds like a gas well wrench, the brass won`t cause sparks that might go BOOM!
