Antique iron spike

I found this iron spike at a yard sale really cheap...$1

The seller had no idea what it is

I had it for sale recently and I was told by a guy that looked at it, that he thought it might be a very old rigging spike from the logging industry.

He said he saw a similar, but smaller version of it in a museum.

I don't know about that, but i'd sure like to know what it really is.

I think it may just be a "one of a kind " and it was made for a specific purpose

It heavy and weighs just over 2 pounds

Does anybody know?

I appreciate any help
Please be serious don't post something completely stupid

You're not going to get much help coming here with an attitude.

I was told it might be a very old rigging spike from the logging industry and was suggested it should be in a museum

I'll have to remember that sales pitch next time I have a yard sale! That's a good one!

If you were to drive it into very many logs, the eye would flatten out, so I don't think it's a riggin spike. Unclemac showed a picture of a log boom spike, and those are used for rafting logs on ponds and rivers, and are driven into logs, but can also be knocked out of logs by hitting them back and forth, where yours couldn't be. My swag is it doesn't have anything to do with logging. You can tell it's blacksmith made, because I can see the forge weld where the ring is attached to the handle. That said, if I was to make a SWAG, I'd say farm related, possibly a spike out of a home made spike tooth harrow.

Awesome answers everybody, Thanks for all of them.

Its square and considerably thicker than the skewers or the stove pipe flue...they are all very thin in comparison

I looked at it very closely and the top of the handle is flattened a bit, as if it had been hammered into something.

A friend suggested a telephone pole "step" or similar?

Perhaps used to attach sections of floating dock and made by a blacksmith!
