Thought I would share some pics of the sluicing trips from this last week and this weekend. Caminochaos and his buddy and I took a trip to the American river sluiced for about 6-7 hours, had a blast eating pork rinds and drinking some beer. :icon_sunny:
Found more lead and nails than anything else, we were at a spot that used to have a bridge, so I think that's where the old square nails/steaks {things are huge} came from. The Photos labeled 30 plus are from the trip to the American, the others are from last week after work.

??? sluice kind?? and howz ya like it?? 1/2" classification prior??John

Looking good GW. Not as much as our other spot and we moved a lot more material. We may need to try some crevicing down there next time. Also bring a vehical with more ground clearance. Hows the oil pan look on your car? :P

Hoser....It's an Angus. We were classifying. He'll have to tell you if he likes it. I like it because of the easy clean-ups.

Gotta love the easy clean up, light weight to pack in, and leaves me with less material to pan at the end. I always classify to 1/2" before running it through the sluice, sometimes even 1/4" if I cant get enough flow.

Camino,

I still have to suck the -30 out of the blue bowl too.... :laughing7:

:coffee2:
MORNIN' GRAVELWASHER,

LOOKS LIKE A GREAT SPOT AND A GREAT SPOT TO USE A SLUCE.
IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE A GOOD SPOT TO SLIP AND BUST YOUR BACKSIDE! THAT BEDROCK
LOOKS SLICK.

HOW LONG DID YA HAVE TO RUN TO GET THE GOLD IN YOUR PAN?

WELL HAVE A GOOD WEEK, AND GET OUT THERE WHEN YOU CAN. THERE'S NOTHIN' LIKE
THAT YELLOW STUFF TO GET A FELLA EXCITED!

John that sluice is an Angus Mckirk AU Trap.

Great pictures man, I will get some of my own up soon.

Hello Prospectormikel,

Gold pictured with the quarter came from the spot in the scenery pics. Took me 2 hours from house to back home after work one night, I moved 3, five gallon buckets. You bet your au that algee covered bedrock is slick as donky snot!! :laughing7: I will be going back to that spot next chance I get!!

How do you like you au trap Astrobouncer? Have you done any back to back tests to see what it looses, like put an A52 under it at the tail end? I am thinking of trying the keene behind it to see if its leaking much au out. I have to admit I do find some very fine fine au with the Au trap. :icon_sunny: Love to see the pics

GRAVELWASHER,
I LIKE THE WAY THAT SLUICE WORKS ON THE SMALL STUFF. I RUN KEENE SLUICE WITH A MODIFIED COLLECTOR, WITH A 1/8" PUNCHPLATE OVER RIBBED CARPET. I CATCH MOST OF WHAT I GET WITH THE MODIFICATION.
I MAY PICK ONE OF THOSE UP WHEN THE BILLS ARE ALL PAID.

IT JUST LOOKS TOO GOOD AND WAY TOO EASY!!!

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE BRO. CHECK INTO A PAIR OF SHOE SKIDS AT YOUR AREA SPORTING GOOD STORE. THEY SELL THEM TO FLY FISHERMEN (LIKE ME) TO WALK ON SLICK ROCKS.

Ahh, the color of Gold! Way to go boys! The shoe skids sound interesting, I've tried lots of different brands of running shoes as river walkers and had only one pair that worked well. Those were a very old model of Pumas with ellipse like Octopus suckers on the sole/heel plate, they are not made anymore. Merrill's do not work at all though similar pattern, it may have been the type of rubber.

I noticed this morning that the American is back up towards 3000 cfs, snow must be melting...........63bkpkr

HEY 63BKPKR,

THE SHOE SKIDS THAT I HAVE ARE MADE OF RUBBER, WITH A METAL CLEAT/PLATE MOLDED
AT THE BALL OF THE FOOT. THEY STRETCH OVER YOUR SHOES AND PULL UP ON THE HEEL.
SORT'A ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL.

I DON'T STEP INTO A CREEK WITHOUT THEM. I'M GETTIN' TOO OLD TO HEAL WELL, I GUESS.

ENJOY AND BE SAFE OUT THERE.

ProspectorMikel,
Would you be so good as to post a picture of these magnificent aids to mankind!

Thank you so much...........63bkpkr

63BKPKR

I HAVE LOOKED FOR A NAME OR TRADEMARK, AND CAN'T FIND ONE. I HAD THEM IN THE ORIG.
PACKAGE UNTIL LAST SUMMER, AND CAN'T FIND IT.

NEVER THE LESS, I NOW HAVE PICS.
NEXT TIME I GO TO A SPORTING GOOD STORE I WILL TRY TO FIND A NAME AND MODEL NUMBER FOR YOU.

I HOPE THESE HELP. THEY WORK GREAT FOR ME.

PorspMikel,

CUTE!!!

From flyfishing shops you say! Any online shops you deal with? Actual name/brand of product? U might be able to tell you've caught my interest. I really dislike slipping and falling on rocks and into rocks, my body does not like it either.

Thank you for sharing........63bkpkr

63 BKPKR AND ANY ONE ELSE THAT IS TRYING TO FIND THE SAFETY TREAD OVERSHOES,

I FOUND A PLACE ON-LINE TO GET THE EXACT BRAND AND MOD NUMB.

FishUSA.com LOOK UNDER (ICE FISHING) THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT BRANDS AND TYPES.

THE MATCH FOR MINE ARE.... HT ENTERPRISES SUREGRIP SAFETY TREADS. SG-1 (MY SIZE)

PRICE RANGE ON THESE RUNS $4.45 - $8.95 + APPLICABLE TAX AND SHIPPING (PER WEBSITE)
