Piece of eight

A friend just showed me a piece of eight with co a. From 1787 English east India company vessel wreck. The certificate is dated July 1993 but research shows that wreck was looted and wasn't made known to have been found until 1996. Is anyone familiar with these being sold?

Over the years, many vessels have been salvaged more than once; and some of the salvage ops may have been done 'on the QT'.
As "OB" asked about, the name of the vessel would be quite helpful. Short of that, the location of the wreck might lead us to the name of the vessel and a specific answer to your Q.

Admiral Gardner - 1809?
