Hello....anybody there? Was this a dumb question? Are all pinpointers basically the same? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think it's just that it seems everyone is asking & there should be alot of posts here already on Pinpointers / Probes. What type of Detector do you Have ?

Sorry, I should have gone back in the previous pages.
I was looking at the Automax Precision v2 but when I looked on Ebay, some guy was selling a bunch of them. They were all inoperable. They had all been sent back for repairs. That just kind of worried me.
By the way, I have a Whites Prism IV.

I'm not shure if SUN-RAY makes an in-line probe for the Prizim. Hopefully someone here will answer your Questions on other Pinpointers, there are alot of brands, some better then others, I'm only up on the IN-Line ones, but their $150.00 Approx. & as I said, don't know if they are even available for yours, Good Luck ; jeff

Thanks, I'll check into the Sunray and see if it's compatable with my detector. It does seem like less hassle...one less thing to carry. Meanwhile, I'll check out the old posts and see what I can learn.
My detector does have a pinpointer mode that works pretty well, but when the hole is 7" deep, I begin to wonder if my target is on the side of the hole....That's when the trouble begins. Pretty soon I have the big shovel out and the hole is huge. (The detector was right. The metal was right in the middle of the hole.)
I probably just need more practice...I've only been out twice with it. Can't wait til spring.

Yea same here on hopeing for an EARLY SPRING :) a probe does make them deeper off center targets alot easier. GOOD LUCK
