pinpointers

I've decided to get one.
I have heard a few people here recommend the Sunray pointer.
I am the Admin of a car enthusiast board and as one, I will ALWAYS buy from a message board sponser FIRST.
Can someone pointer me in the right direction?

No doubt about it the sunray in-line probe is good. The only draw backs are, it does add weight to the detector, you need to switch to it and back to the detector. It is nice to go in deeper holes and has great depth/distance. Some see this as a bad thing, I don,t mind. I have a whites BullsEye I and I never go detecting without it. Almost all others are hand held and are similar in depth/distance (around an inch). Io own a Treasuremate, it works great but I don,t like it with my Minelab Explorer II, it interferes when in use and is annoying in the headphones.One is a little different, the Pocket UniProbe. It has better depth/distance than others and is comparable with the Sunray, only the electronics can go in a pouch, pocket, or held in the hand. It is expensive but I imagine that I will have to try one sometime, (Inquiring minds want to know). Just my 25 cents.

I don't think I understand, is the Sunray an attachment that can be used on any detector?
I have a Tesoro Tejon, I thought the sunray was a small hand held pinpointer.

Froggie... it is carried as an attachment on the detector... and is powered by the detector as well. When you need to use it you switch it over to annunciate through your detector, it's like an additional search coil right in your hand. thats why the weight issue, it snaps to your outfit for storage when not being used.

I think it is only for certain detectors though.

If I'm wrong I'll be quickly slapped... and corrected.

ahhh, OK, well I guess I am looking for recommendations for a hand held pointer under $75
